Joey Phillips is originally from West Virginia, where at six years of age, he asked Christ to come into his life to be his Lord and Savior. Three years later the family moved from Iaeger, WV, to Vinton, VA, where they began attending Blue Ridge Baptist Church. Joey responded to the call to ministry under the preaching of Jimmie Jones and John Gamble as a teenager at Springs of Life Camp. After graduation from William Byrd High School in 1978, Joey attended Piedmont Bible College to prepare for ministry. During his college years, he also served at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church as their Youth Director. In the fall of 1984, Joey returned to his home church in Vinton to become their Associate Pastor. Through God’s providence, Joey became the Pastor of Goodview Baptist Church on June 30, 1985.

On July 13, 1985, following her graduation from Columbia Bible College, Joey married his bride, Kelly. The Lord has blessed their family with three children: Meredith graduated from Virginia Tech and now lives and works in Charlotte, NC, Hannah, graduated from Liberty University and currently works as a nurse at Forsyth Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC, and Drew, a junior at Liberty University, enjoys playing golf and basketball.

Chris Walker Joining the staff at Goodview Baptist in November 1998, Chris has spent the majority of his time as youth pastor. His additional responsibilities include leading the missions’ endeavors of the church and occasionally bringing the message on Sunday mornings. Chris is married to the love of his life, Jessica, and is amazed at how God provided his “dream girl” when he wasn’t looking. She is truly a desire of his heart. They have two children–a beautiful princess named Isabella and a blue eyed warrior named Joshua.

Chris is intrigued with theology, psychology, and figuring out what drives people (including himself). He loves to work with teenagers, to ride mountain bikes, and to watch Duke basketball.
